Performing

Michelle Mastin holds her BM in viola performance from the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati and her Masters from the Eastman School of Music in New York. She has also received the Professional Studies Diploma from the San Francisco Conservatory as a student of Jodi Levitz. While at CCM, Michelle was a student of Masao Kawasaki and Dr. Catherine Carroll Lees, and then a student of George Taylor at Eastman. She spent three summers at the Aspen Music festival one summer in Lucca, Italy at the Opera Theatre and Chamber Music festival. She has also played for the BASOTI Opera Festival and Workshop in San Francisco, and has spent two summers as a fellows at PACO chamber music camp. 

Michelle has been an active performer on both viola and violin working with orchestras such as the Rochester Philharmonic, the Erie Philharmonic, the California Pops Orchestra (several years as principal), and Symphonia Caritas.  She also enjoys chamber music and spent two years working with the Eastman Chamber Society, as well as two years as a fellow and coach for the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra.

Now based in Springboro, OH, you will mostly find me playing viola with the Yellow Spring Chamber Orchestra or Cedarville University Orchestra, taking cello opportunities wherever they arise, or playing French Horn with the Fairborn Civic Band.
